Catalogue Note

It is rare to find the reverse of an object decorated in this manner. Splashed bleu de Persan fragments have been unearthed in London and Brislington, an almost intact porringer splashed in white was excavated in Lambeth, see Michael Archer, Delftware in the Fitzwilliam Museum, London, 2013, p. 230, F.2. See the lobed dish illustrated by Leslie B. Grigsby, The Longridge Collection of English Slipware and Delftware, London, 2000, Vol. 2, p. 200, D177, where the author notes that fragments have also been found in Charleston, South Carolina.
