Description

  • tallest: 32.5 cm, 12 3/4  in.
one depicting Shoulao, the other three variously carved as ladies with flowers, one signed

Provenance

Christie's London, 5th June 1995, lot 244.

Condition

All have small repairs or chips to varying degree but overall the four carvings are generally in good condition. Visible restorations include a repaired section as the tip end of the tail feathers ‎of the phoenix, headdress of the standing guanyin, a re-stuck section of the branch of the lady immortal carrying a flower basket, a repair to the mall top right branch above the head of the shoulao, a chipped section of the billowing veil at the bottom left of the twin lady immortal group. These appear to be the most significant and there may be further chips or bruises as can be expected with these coral carvings.
