Description

  • 28.1 and 18.3 cm, 11 and 7 1/4  in.
both carved around the exterior with archaistic motifs, the larger one with a taotie mask on the flattened body and flanked by animal mask handles suspending rings, the cover with a mythical beast finial; the other of globular form, carved with ibis as the handles and cover finial

Condition

Both vases are generally in good condition, with a few expected light bruises along the edges, including a minute chip to the tip end and of one of the wing feather of the smaller vase's bird finial.
