S’inspirant de la forme traditionnelle du tabouret à trois pieds commun à toute l’Afrique de l’Est, cette chaise Gurage / Jimma était utilisée lors de l’intronisation d’un nouveau chef. Assis sur son trône durant sept jours, il recevait les présents de ses sujets avant d’être proclamé roi. La superbe élaboration du dossier au décor ajouré place cette œuvre parmi les témoins remarquables du mobilier d'apparat.
