Catalogue Note

Les réceptacles ponctuant de manière très singulière les côtés de ce remarquable appui-tête servaient très vraisemblablement à contenir du tabac à priser. Ce dernier rapprochait le consommateur de ses ancêtres et il était traditionnellement frotté sur ces créations dont le rôle était aussi pratique que symbolique: permettant à la fois de protéger la coiffure pendant le sommeil, et d’établir un lien avec le monde spirituel.
