This work is in generally good overall condition. There are wearing traces by the corners and very few minor losses along the edges. No traces of retouching appear to be visible under UV light.

Gli oggetti, come La Porta Grigia, proposti da Tano Festa vivono in uno spazio inventato che non è quello della vita quotidiana ma è lo spazio poetico dell’arte. Festa ci offre l’opportunità di aprire una porta, apparentemente chiusa, e di entrare in una nuova dimensione, diversa per ogni spettatore. La Porta Grigia, ovunque venga allestita, segna un’ora diversa, scandisce uno spazio diverso. Certo, la pittura non è presente, ma lo spaesamento metafisico che solitamente troviamo all’interno di una tela, qui ci è offerto all’esterno: l’opera d’arte stessa è “spaesata” nella sua inconsueta relazione con l’ambiente.

Objects, like La Porta Grigia, which Tano Festa offers us, live in a invented space that possesses nothing of everyday life but is rather the poetic space of art. Festa profers the opportunity to open an ostensibly closed door and to enter a new dimension which will be different for every spectator. La Porta Grigia, wherever it is set, signals a different time, marks out a different space. Of course, in this case there is no painting, but the metaphysical disorientation that we usually find inside a canvas is offered to us on the outside: the work of art itself is 'lost' in its unusual relation with the environment.
