Condition

The colours in the printed catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is softer in the original work. Tiny foxing spots are mainly located on the left half of the work and are visible under very close inspection only. The paper has slightly yellowed, most notably in lower left corner. There is a light repainting in the black area on the left. This work is in very good condition.

Catalogue Note

Once we found the right connection of a work with a primary cosmic force, we discover a unifying cause that strengthens the unity of the best-composed pieces. By accepting the invitation of the elements, the painter receives the natural sprout of a creation.

Gaston Bachelard

This work will be included in the forthcoming Catalogue Raisonné and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Ching-Chao Chu.
