Description

  • Height without plinth 62 cm.
standing with the weight on his right leg, a treek trunk support against his left leg, and holding a cymbal in his lowered right hand, his right arm formerly raised, an animal skin knotted on the breast, the head with parted lips and unruly beard; restorations.

Condition

Ancient base inserted in a modern square marble plinth; repairs across waist, middle of proper right thigh, proper left knee, and across top of support; proper right shoulder restored and painted over; proper right arm missing; entire proper left arm, including shoulder, hand and cymbal, restored in marble and somewhat loose with fresh chips along join in back of proper left back shoulder; nose restored in plaster; surface weathered and dirty overall with areas of heavy overpainting along repairs; small iron pin sticking out above abdomen.
