Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes, Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This work on canvas has not been lined, but the tacking edges have been reinforced and the canvas has been treated with Beva-371 to stabilize the paint layer. The original inscriptions are visible on the reverse. The painting seems to be clean and varnished. No retouches are visible under ultraviolet light, except for one small spot near the bottom edge in the center of the left side. This subtle work is in impressive condition.
