Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes, Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This work on board is clean and lightly varnished. Under ultraviolet light, the artist's original glazes and varnishes do slightly fluoresce, but there is only one retouching to the left of the figure's elbow in the curtain behind and another small spot on the back of the figure's right hand. The unpainted areas of the board have probably darkened over time, but this is to be expected. The work is in very good state and can be hung as is.
