Condition

The following condition report has been provided by Antonio Alvarez, Alvarez Conservation Services 29 West 36th Street, Suit 1102 New York, NY 212-244-5255, alvarezconservation.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. Overall Condition: This watercolor and pencil on paper is in good condition overall. Structural Condition: The work was executed on a prepared support composed of a wooden panel covered and wrapped with linen and glued paper layer. The primary paper layer does not present tears, paper losses, or planar distortions. Visual Condition: The paper is mildly oxidized throughout from contact with the acidic support and a natural process of aging due to light exposure. A moderate field of foxing stains is noticeable scattered throughout the image. A noticeable degree of fading to watercolor is evidenced by darker tones along the left and right edges; more dramatic along the right side. Otherwise, the medium appears to be well preserved. Additional Condition Notes: This work retains its original frame, designed by the artist.
