Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There are some very fine lines of hairline craquelure notably in the upper part of the composition and only visible upon close inspection, including one fine stretcher mark corresponding to the horizontal stretcher member. Some minor frame rubbing is also visible along the right framing edge. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals areas of un-even residual varnish and, with the exception of one pin-head sized spot of cosmetic retouching in the white garments of the woman's gown, no further sign of retouching is visible. This work presents very well, is in good condition and is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
