Condition

The canvas has been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals a circa 25 by 25cm L-shaped stroke of retouching in the lower left quadrant addressing an old tear. With the exception of some intermittent strokes of retouching in the extreme left framing edge and of some pin-head sized spots in the sky in the upper right quadrant, addressing some thinness to the paint resulting from cleaning, the rest of the composition appears to be virtually untouched. It should be noted the aforementioned repair is not visible to the naked eye. Overall, this work presents very well and is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
