Condition

The canvas has not been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher of the time. Some faint stretcher marks are visible around the four edges. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals small, scattered spots of retouching in the bed linen in the lower half of the composition addressing old paint flaking. Some other pin-head sized spots of cosmetic retouching are also visible in the back of her neck and in her hair. Otherwise, this work presents very well, is overall in good condition and is ready to hang. Presented in a simple gilt frame.
