Condition
The canvas has been strip-lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher. There is a pattern of craquelure throughout, however not too distracting, as visible in the catalogue illustration. Ultra-violet light reveals areas of un-even fluorescence, notably within and around the signature, associated to old residual varnish. There are a few isolated pin-head sized spots of cosmetic retouching along the centre of the lower framing edge, one small spot in the figure's neck and some minor spots along the extreme left framing edge. The main composition appears to be virtually untouched. Overall, this work is in good condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a simple gilt frame.
