Description
- Alfons Leopold Mielich
- The Water Carrier
- signed A. L. MIELICH lower left
- oil on panel
- 58 by 46cm., 23 by 18in.
Condition
The panel has been cradled with two wooden batons along its upper and lower framing edges respectively. The panel is flat, even, and ensuring a stable support. There are two small spots of paint loss along the upper framing edge, along with some minor frame rubbing, and one small spot in the upper right framing edge, as visible in the catalogue illustration. Ultra-violet light reveals a thick layer of residual varnish which makes the surface quite difficult to read - however, no immediate sign of retouching is visible. This work is overall in good condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a simple gilt frame.
