Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is minor rubbing to the patina, including to the top of the nose and the chin. There are a few slight scratches, including to the buttocks and the proper right leg. There is some dirt and dryness in the crevices, in particular at the base. There is some minor white residue to the proper left arm.

The present model is a study for the allegorical figure of Freedom on the Monument to Charles Floquet (1868-1899) at the Père Lachaise cemetery, Paris.
