ITALIAN
PAIR OF PUTTI

Catalogue Note

Cesare Lapini had a successful sculpture career in Florence during the second half of the 19th century. After his death, his workshop was turned into the Galleria Lapini which was in operation until at least 1900. The sculptor was celebrated for his genre figures and his charming depictions of children and putti. The present pair is a fine example of the latter, and also shows his skill in achieving different effects in surface texture.
