  • Made in the first quarter of the 17th century.
the front carved in relief with three stylised flowerheads, the interior with a lidded 'till'

Provenance

According to family tradition this early boarded chest was used by W.B. Yeats for storage and referred to by the Yeats family as the 'Monks Chest'.

Condition

Rare. Later stain and varnish. There is evidence of worm and damage to timber at these sites. old marks and scratches. Lock lacking. Brackets to feet at front loose. Atmospheric.
