Provenance

According to family tradition these chairs were acquired for use with the Dining Table acquired by W. B. Yeats with the money from his Nobel Prize.

Condition

Wear from heavy use. Old marks and scratches throughout. Some of an unsteady stance. Some with losses to front wooden slip-bar on seat edges. Wear to rush seats, two chairs with replaced rush seats. Some old repairs. Some discoloration to timber and dryness. A charming set, despite 'country house' condition.
