Description

  • Kay Bojesen
  • Rare Early Monumental Monkey
  • teak, limba

Condition

Overall very good original colour and condition, light natural wear to surfaces and extremities commensurate with age and light use. There is a minor indent to his left leg and a shallow abrasion to his right leg. There are occasional age related minor marks and abrasions to his lower arms where it appears that his arms have swung into his legs and feet when being held/positioned. The right arm is a slightly lighter tone than his left arm which may indicate some minor sun fading. There are very occasional minor areas of age separation to where certain elements of his teak body are connected – however his body remains sturdy, with no indication of any looseness. The widest area of age separation is to the underside of the monkey's bottom where two sections of teak connect – again there is no movement to the join and this area remains firm and stable. The monkey's articulated arms, legs, feet and hands all remain in full working condition, with firm joints and no looseness. In our opinion the monkey presents very well – with an excellent aged colour and rich patina. The teak is a dense old growth variety, with a hard/dense quality. This represents an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a scarce 1960s monumental example of Bojesen's most famous and iconic design.
