Literature

Ritva Puotila is a Finnish textile designer and artistic director of the design company Woodnotes.  A lauded designer, Puotila's work is characterized by her creative use of hand-tufting in vibrant colors and innovative materials.  After achieving a gold medal at the Milano XII Trienniale in 1960 for her work with Finnish ryijy, a rug-like tapestry, Puotila has continued to experiment with paper, linen, cotton and wool materials.  In addition to multiple design awards, Puotila's works are housed in major museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Condition

Overall very good original colour and condition. The colours remain vibrant and the weave remains intact. In our opinion this is an excellent example of the artists' work.
