• gilt full plate movement, verge escapement, masked pierced and engraved balance cock, fuse and chain • white enamel dial, Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute track, blued steel beetle and poker hands • gold case, inlaid shagreen bezel, bloodstone back with gold scroll mounts, applied rose-cut and circular-cut diamonds, drilled emerald beads, cabochon rubies and varied-cut sapphires depicting a flower surrounded by insects, diamond-set thumb piece • movement signed Jno Gerard, London, 418

Condition

The movement is fully wound and is not running, the balance rotates freely when power is applied to the train. The enamel dial with multiple cracks around the winding hole and a fine crack across the centre. The shagreen bezel with a crack and some chips. There is a fine crack to the bloodstone by the thumb piece but overall the case back is in very good condition. The watch has not been tested to determine the accuracy of its timekeeping.
