Description

  • enamel, seed pearls, diamonds
  • approximately 21 x 36mm
of oval form, centring on a giardinetto set with rose diamonds on a ground of blue enamel within a surround of seed pearls, to a Rococo-style scrolled border, the reverse inscribed In Memory of John Wise Obt 30 May 1844, later brooch fitting.

Condition

Inscribed "In memory of John Wise, obt 30 May 1844" to reverse. Rose diamonds are bright and lively. Light scratches, dents and some nicks to metal. Discoloration trough out.. Brooch fitting added later, evidence of lead solder repair to reserve. Blue enamel with some light scratches and minor chips around edges. Seed pearls with green discoloration and some typical blemishes. Some loss of yellow metal, base metal can be seen by naked eye. Length measuring approximately 21 x 36mm. Pin fitting with some play, closes securely. Wear commensurate with age.
