Condition

Original canvas, the canvas appears sound. There are some very fine vertical lines of craquelure apparent in places along the lower horizontal edge, with some further very fine lines of craquelure visible in one or two places elsewhere, including to the cream pigment just above the horizon line. There are one or two very small flecks of loss apparent in the lower right corner. There is some light surface dirt to the work in places. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered flecks of retouching throughout the work, which have all been very sensitively executed. The work is presented in an ornate moulded gilt frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
