Condition
The canvas has been lined. There are some areas of faint craquelure pattern visible on close inspection. A slightly discoloured layer of surface varnish and some specks of surface dirt.
UV light inspection reveals areas of flecked retouching throughout the sky and figure group with some further touches elsewhere. There are areas of retouching/old restoration to two tears to the canvas in the lower left hand quadrant.
Held in a decorative gilt frame.
