Condition

The canvas has been lined. There is an area of craquelure with some associated paint lifting to the upper left hand framing edge. There is a very minor paint abrasion above the boy with the pan on his head. Otherwise the work appears to be in fair overall condition. UV light inspection reveals some areas of retouching to the rafters in the upper portion of the composition. Flecks of retouching in and around the figure group. Some further retouhcings to the floor in the lower portion of the canvas and some minor retouchings elsewhere. This picture is contained in a moulded plaster sweep frame.
