each top inset with glass over panels depicting figures within landscapes, the columnar supports on small brass castors
Provenance
According to family tradition the Chinese watercolours which are framed in the tops of these étagères were possibly acquired by George Forbes (1849-1936) when he was in China. In 1875 he travelled extensively, going from Russia, through Siberia, Mongolia and China before ending his trip in Japan.
Condition
These elegant étagère are in very good condition. Tarnishing to lacquered brass, losses and rubbing to lacquer surface. Some stains and light fading to painted panels.
