  • David Martin
  • Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, standing in a landscape, wearing a pink dress with white lace sleeves and an embroidered waistband
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The canvas has been relined, the paint surface is clean, and the varnish is only slightly discoloured and uneven. The impasto paintwork is very well-preserved. There appears to have been more than one campaign of restoration, with more recent areas found throughout the background and in some strengthening to the folds of the lady's dress, while an older campaign is found in the sitter's face, chest and arms. In overall fair condition. Offered in a later painted carved and stucco frame in good condition.
