Description
- Follower of Edward William Cooke
- Dutch Kaags in a stiff breeze
- a pair, one oil on panel, the other oil on canvas, laid on panel
Condition
Both panels are flat and stable and have discoloured and uneven varnishes.
The former, the canvas laid on panel, has two losses in the sky and one just below the boats in a small area of flaking paint, all visible in the catalogue illustration. Inspection under UV light reveals little intervention save for a small area of retouching in the upper left of the former and minor retouching in the boats to reduce the appearance of craquelure.
Very little intervention is visible in the latter and it appear to be in good overall condition.
The pair are offered in matching gilt gesso frame with some losses.
