The example by Hennell probably one from a pair supplied by W & P Cunningham, Edinburgh, 29 April 1795; '2 silver bottle sliders £4-4-0, engraving two crests, £0-0-10', NLS (Acc.4796/218)
Condition
Clear marks on each. The Scottish example with a few little nicks and bruises but engraving is crisp. Wooden base fits quite loosely in the silver frame. Wood is quite rubbed. The English example with more wear to engraving but fewer nicks. The surface is quite bright with areas of light pitting. Otherwise good.
