Sold together with eleven Neapolitan views

The 6th Bt. records a visit to the studio of a Don Tito in Naples on the 22nd of March 1793 in Volume IV of his Grand Tour Journal (p.248). He writes, ‘his landscapes in transparent watercolours are the most exact and elegant transcripts of nature I ever saw’ and later ‘I indulged myself with a few prints and drawings of remarkable places for the sake of memory – I therefore bought from Don Tito a view of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which happened whilst we were at Naples’.
