Description

  • brass silver
  • flasks 30cm. high, ewer 30.5cm. high; 11¾in., 1ft.
comprising two Surahi (water flasks) and a lidded ewer profusely worked with cast leaf fronds and foliage, the ewer handle and lid finial of European form together with a late 19th century tapered brass stem vase, probably Benares and a pair of Victorian mahogany wall brackets with brass supports in the form of coiled snakes, late 19th century (6)

Provenance

George Forbes visited India in 1893 to advise on hydro-electric power.

Condition

Vessels polished and residue polish in evidence. Old marks prangs and scratches and some dents. Lovely quality. Shelves good although the brass supports slightly misshapen and chip to underside of one (15cm. high, 16cm. wide, 10.5cm. deep.) Stem vase 16.5cm. high and with ingrained dirt, old marks and scratches.
