the first, with lapis lazuli panels and silver-gilt mounts, cut-cornered rectangular, probably Italian, late 18th century, 8.7cm., 3 3/8 in.; the second, with agate lid and base, gold sides, rectangular with rounded corners, probably Scottish, early 19th century, 8.5cm., 3 3/8 in.; and two examples with figured agate panels and silver sides, one octagonal with leaf-chased mounts, 6.7cm., 2 5/8 in., the other rectangular with cut corners, English or Scottish, mid 18th century, 7.3cm., 2 7/8 in. wide, all unmarked,
