Catalogue Note

RARE. 'Loredano (1607-1661) was a Venetian nobleman, politician and litterateur ... In his introduction, Loredano claimed to be a Cypriot, and his use of the pseudonym 'Giblet' was probably a deliberate reference to one of the families that formed the Lusignan court. It is possible that Loredano was a descendant of the family ... His history of the Lusignan kings of Cyprus ends with the death of James III Lusignan, son of Caterina Cornaro and James the Bastard, that is, James II Lusignan' (Ioannou).
