Condition

The canvas has been strip-lined. A faint stretcher mark corresponding to the horizontal stretcher bar is visible in the centre of the composition. Ultra-violet light reveals extensive areas of cosmetic retouching in the sky, scattered strokes in the cloaks of both riders and two small areas in the ground, all of which seem to address areas of thinness. The picture is otherwise in good condition, presents very well and is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
