Condition
Smaller vase: Upper sections of both handles appear to have been damaged, possibly broken off, and well-restored back. There is an approximate 2-inch long area at the upper rim edge of the vase with several small pinhead-chips, mostly visible on the underside of the rim edge. There is a firing-related fibne crack running along the lower edge of the neck, below the gilt band where the body of the vase meets the neck.
Larger vase: Upper sections of both handles appear to have been damaged, possibly broken off, and well-restored back. The restoration partially extends to the underside of the rim edge on both sides by the handles. There is a minuscule chip and a reglued small flat chip to the lower edge of the gilt band where the body of the vase connects with the neck. There is tiny chip to the edge of the base. Otherwise in good condition.

Catalogue Note
A similar vase with slightly higher handles was exhibited at the Centennial International Exhibition of 1876 in Philadelphia and is illustrated in the catalogue, The Masterpieces of the Centennial Exhibition, Volume II, 1876, p. 79. Two similar vases of this shape, painted similarly with flowers, but without the eagle handles, are illustrated in Franca Dietz, Die Sammlung Hassan Sabet, Blühende Zeit der KPM, Die Weichmalerei auf Berliner Porzellan, pp. 468-471.
