inscribed with signature, with XXX foundry mark, Finance Ministry stamp, date and XXX

Condition

Overall good condition and presentation. The usual minor dust and some residue in recesses, and light rubbing to patina in relief areas. One or two arrows in the quiver are somewhat bent. The falconer's arms is cracked at the join of the fore arm holding the falcon, the pin is holding but the hand and falcon move up and down about an inch.

This bronze of a falconer from the reign of Alexei Mikhailovich was one of five works cited when the Russian Academy of Arts promoted Evgeni Lanceray to the status of artist of the first class (klassnyi khudozhnik pervoi stepeni) in May 1872. On this design, see L.A.
