- marked on side of cup, underneath cover, and on finial
- silver
- height 12 in.
- 30.5 cm
embossed on each side with a regatta scene above presentation inscriptions and surrounded by scrolling acanthus, shells, scrolls and flowers, with shell-form handles, the cover with boat-form finial, gilt interior
Condition
some shallow dents to the presentation inscriptions and embossed boating scenes, minor dings throughout, engravings rubbed, finial presumably with some losses, otherwise good

The inscription reads "REGATTA PRIZE CUP Won by The Cutter Charlotte on the 1st day of January 1838. This Prize Cup was presented to Louis Hoyes Esq. BY THE GRENADA YACHT CLUB, of which Alexander Bailliz Esquire was President, Alexander Martin Esq. Treasurer, and Joseph Clarke Esq. Sole Judge." The other side reads "Vessels competing for the Prize. CHARLOTTE, DIAMOND, FERRIER, SARAH, PIGWIDGEON, PETRIL, WEST INDIAN & ANNA."
