Description

  • Annunciation and Crucifixion
  • partially gilt alabaster diptych ; in a gilt wood pastiglia frame
  • relief: 12 x 9,5 cm, cadre: 21,5 x 19 cm; relief: 4 3/4  by 3 3/4  in., frame: 8 1/2  by 7 1/2  in.

Formerly in the Dubois de la Cotardière; his sale Me R. Bailleul, Bayeux, 7 June 1999. 

Condition

The Annunciation : Overall good condition with fine remains of gilding. Fine horizontal hairline fissure visible in the background. The right armrest of Mary's throne appears to have been restored. The Crucifixion : Nice gilding nicely preserved. Some minor wear and surface dirt. The frames in good condition with joints slightly open in the four corners.
