Condition
The painting is on its original canvas ; few repaints appear along the frame and some very smalls are on the composition ; the pictural matter is quite thin in different part of the painting, letting the bare thread visible ; very good condition overall.

Peintre de figures et de portraits, Verschaffelt étudia aux Beaux-arts d'Anvers. Savant coloriste, la lumière et les couleurs qu'il découvrit au Maghreb dès 1919 lui inspirèrent de nombreuses compositions. Les maternités aussi bien que les vieilles personnes accompagnées de jeunes enfants sont autant de sujets permettant à l'artiste de sublimer son talent de coloriste, en multipliant les bijoux et les détails des drapés.
