Condition

The paper was probably folded in the upper left corner. By looking very closely, a thin tear appears in the middle on the composition in the leaves ; another one in the upper part of the composition in the leaves in the middle ; and a last one in the leaves on the right at the end of a branch, by the sky. According to Claire Lebeau, the trunk was re-worked by the painter after its first execution. Under UV light, old retouches are visible alongside the borders, especially in the upper right in the sky ; in the upper left, on the right in the middle ; perhaps in the lower part in the dark areas ; in the center (by the tear) ; finally, a few repaints are scattered on the surface.
