Catalogue Note

According to family tradition, this painting and the next entered the current owner's godmother's family a long time ago, probably in the 19th Century. It is possible that the portraits represent ancestors, and that they never left the family since their execution.

We would like to thank Martin Dieterle and Claire Lebeau for kindly confirming the authenticity of this lot. It will be included in their forthcoming sixth supplement to the catalgoue raisonné by Alfred Robaut.
