Catalogue Note
The scene depicts Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel, explaining to Pharaoh the meaning of his two dreams. They predict the next seven years of abundance followed by the seven other years of barrenness that were about to fall upon his people. Pharaoh, convinced by his foresight appoints Joseph as head of Egypt’s administration. He takes benefit of the seven years of abundance to build wheat reserves large enough to feed the people of Egypt for the next seven years.
