Describes the initial plans for Apollo during the early 1960’s and the challenges between science interests and manned flight. Flight crew selection and training is covered plus mission planning. A majority of the work describes the initial Apollo lunar landings with extensive accounting of the last three landings that focused on major scientific objectives. These flights, Apollos 15, 16, and 17 all included the lunar rover for extended surface coverage and three EVAs (moonwalks) that greatly increased time spent on the lunar surface as compared to the first three landings.
