Condition

The board and the attached board and metal elements all appear sound and securely attached. The corners of the supporting board are slightly rounded and uneven, which are thought to be in keeping with the Artist's materials, and there is also a very small area of loss to the board at the lower left corner. The lower left tip of the rectangular section of metal in the lower left corner is very slightly bent. There is some uneveness to the board in places, including to the painted area of board at the left side, which are thought to be in keeping with the Artist's materials and working method. There is a very light scratch to the topmost metal element at the left vertical edge, and there may be one or two further very slight scuffs to the metal elements in places, as well as one further tiny dent to the top of one of the metal squares in the upper right quadrant. There is some light surface dirt in places, particularly to the painted wooden elements, and a speck of possible oxidisation to the square metal element in the lower left corner. There are also some fingerprint marks to some of the metal elements. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some areas of light fluorescence, which are thought to be in keeping with the Artist's materials and not thought to be indicative of retouching. The work is presented unframed. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
