Condition

The sculpture is sound and freestanding. The varnish is slightly uneven in places and there is a small area of staining to one side of the central square element and to one side of the bottom element. There are a few minor dents and light surface scratches to the work in places, including to the top of the bottom element and to the edges of the top element. There are two minor hairline cracks to the underside of the work, in line with the grain of the wood, and a few other tiny cracks elsewhere, including to the extreme top of the piece. There is a tiny crack to the front of the central element, which has been filled with wax, which continues to the back of the element, suggesting a possible old repair. All these appear stable. There is some light rubbing to the central cylindrical element and to the extreme corners of the central square element. There is a light layer of fine surface dirt in the crevices of the wood. Subject to the above the work is in very good overall condition. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
