Paisnel Gallery, London, where acquired by the present owner

Condition

Not examined out of the frame. The sheet appears to be affixed to the backing card in several places, but does not appear to be laid down. The sheet undulates slightly, but otherwise appears sound. The left and lower edges of the sheet are uneven, thought to be in keeping with the Artist's materials, and there are Artist's pinholes around the edges of the sheet. There is a small tear towards the upper side of the right vertical edge, measuring approximately 1cm. There are one or two extremely small lines of craquelure to the ochre gouache, to the lower horizontal line on the left hand boat, and to the circle to the right hand boat. There is some light surface dirt and studio detritus to the work in places, and there is some staining at the right vertical edge of the sheet. There are one or two extremely small spots of foxing, apparent upon close inspection. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. The work is floated within a window mount and presented in a painted wooden frame, held under glass. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
