the first of globular form rising to a cylindrical neck, the copper-red glaze draining at mid-neck and thickening toward the base; the other of ovoid form with a band of lotus scroll and ruyi above various treasures with a shou character band around the foot all in gilt over mirror-black glaze, the base with an apocryphal Kangxi mark (2)

The bottle vase: D. C. Monk & Son, London, 1983

Condition

The copper-red vase with minor firing imperfections (including expected craquelure and small burst glaze bubbles), expected wear to the surface, and small chips to the underside of the footring. The black vase with expected wear to the surface, footring, and gilding, and one small chip to the interior of the rim (approx. 5 mm).
