Description

the gently rounded sides rising from a short tapered foot, carved around the exterior with elegant lotus petals, covered overall with a crackled pale grayish-blue glaze, stopping neatly at the foot to reveal the dark gray stoneware body

Condition

The glaze is degraded to a matt surface; otherwise, the bowl appears to be in overall good condition with some expected wear to the foot ring and some minor firing imperfections. The surface has been cleaned and polished.

Catalogue Note

The present bowl belongs to a small group of Longquan wares that were produced during the Song dynasty to imitate guan ware.
